Hello Hobie community!

I'm new to all this, had use of a Hobie when I was younger and always said I was going to have one. So after driving 4 hours and inspecting as best I could the boat was mine. Bought a '79 and thought I was getting a good deal but now I'm not so sure it's that GREAT of a deal. I'm happy but now the worklist begins and I need help from the experts.

I know that I'm going to have to purchase a new tramp, a new mast step, and a new rudder (one is broken about 3/4 of the way down.)

My beginning questions are:
1. there are no soft spots on the hulls but a few cracks that don't go too deep. How do I fix these? I've been searching the forum for a hard and fast go by procedure but can't really come up with one.
2. The mast step needs to be replaced and since it has changed a little since '79 should I change the mast base as well so they match?
3. Can the broken rudder be repaired, I have the broken off piece, or do I need to buy new one or both?
4. I'm in Baton Rouge, are there any other hobie owners here?

Thanks for any advice and pointers.

Replaced both Mast Step and Mast Base
Found two new rudders, replaced.
Bought new replacement trampoline, stepped through it when stepping mast.

getting expensive.. ha!

Now about the hulls, should I take the paint down to base to see what I've got? I'm planning on repainting.

Thanks

Would not take paint down all the way to base. Have had good results using marine text white for cracks. Clean them well first. Shame about the tramp...
