Just sailed my H16 in Lake Tahoe. What a blast. They warned me, and they were right: crazy wind up there!!
It's 25+ years old and still going strong. Did notice a few things that need attention though, including some new trailer tires and a repair to the tramp's hiking straps, which just pulled their stiches this last time out.
I want to do both repairs in one trip, removing the tramp for delivery to the sail shop that's going to repair that, and dropping the trailer off (with boat still on it) to the tire shop. So...
Is a Hobie 16 still structurally sound enough without its tramp in place to ride a trailer at freeway speed?
And if you happen to know: does the type of material or width of material of the hiking strap affect the "class-legal" status of a Hobie 16?
