Has anyone dealt with losing your public beach access in your area? We have a problem and could use advise on how to convince the city to not ban cats on our beach. If you are one of those "out of towners" that might come to MHC and add revenue by staying and dining in our area we could use your input. Attached are articles about what our town commisioners are trying to do.

The letter in the second link makes some very good points, and makes them well. I think you need to make sure a number of sailors attend the October meeting and make it clear that more people share the writer's concerns.

My wife and I come to MHC at least 6 times a summer to sail our Hobie 16 from the 11 st. sail park. We eat at local resturants, usuallly stay at the Lighthouse Inn, buy gas, shop at local businesses, etc. It has been really great that we can use the 11 st. sail/kayak park. It is extreamly difficult to find suitable launch sites for small Hobie sailboats. Most all public ramps are designed for motor boats by being surrounded by docks which damage the sailboat hulls. We are quiet, we do not polute the water, and pratice safe boating. I don't understand why public boat ramps don't at least have one ramp that has one side with no dock and a small sandy strip for small sail boats. This would encourage more people to sail, not polute, and help the ecomony.
