The Arriba website lists the FX3 for the H16 but the older Hobie catalogs don't even show it; they only show the FX4 and FX6.

Stock 84"
FX3 50-92"
FX4 57-105"

Maybe I'm answering my own question here; I'm not sure 8" extra is enough. I definitely run out of tiller when I am trapped low and when I'm solo at the front of the tramp.

On a related note there has been some sort of supply problem with the Hot Sticks. The Kitty Hawk dealer could not get them over the winter and at least some are still backordered. The company's website indicates that they have recently changed name and possibly ownership.

The Hobie catalog refers to an elastomeric end coupling while the Arriba site doesn't.

Comments about new ownership are from WAY back... Current owners have been at this since 2006.

Arriba quit building sticks last year and was trying to sell the business. They started building them again this late summer / fall. We have received FX4 and have 3 and 6 on order.

The March 2015 Hobie Parts Catalog (good through March 2015) lists the FX3 52"-96"

Cool. When I was at the OBX dealer yesterday he called and was told that they were in the pipeline. Maybe their website is just way out of date. 96" seems like it would do the trick for me, but I'd still like to know what others think.

Just closing the loop on this one... my concern had been that the extra 10" or so that the hotstick provided wouldn't be enough. However, my new FX3 is plenty long, because it turns out my 'stock' stick had been cut down to 72".

Lovin' the Hotstick. It was in stock at Kitty Hawk Water Sports, the Hobie dealer I've been using every summer when we come down to the OBX.
