Should they be replaced periodically?

I keep hearing about these bushings lately. I know with some drilling they can be used to get slop out of old castings. Is that stock on newer US boats (seems like I read that about Euro models)?

They are stock on the newest version of the new style gudgeons.

Okay....so they are in the one-piece gudgeon, not the casting. Thanks, Ron.

Yes.. But having them is stock I don't think started until more recently.. IIRC I had to drill the Gudgeons in my 2005 to accept them.. but maybe not. To be honest I can't recall. The 13 boat had them stock for sure.

I know I drilled the rudder casting on the 05.. and will be drilling my 13 rudder castings this winter sometime to add bushings and keep things perfectly tight.

(Although I will probably press some brass 8) No need to have to deal with plastic wearing out with stainless pins ect..)
