I tie the name into fabrication year, by using a song name from that years top10.
So far I have used Funkytown, DiscoLady and Jump Around.

What dorienc said about a name that speaks to you is a great direction to go. Going with something that is a reflection of your career (if you have reached that point) is very common in boat naming. I work as a software developer, and I struggled for a long time naming my boat. One day it finally hit me to call it BREAKPOINT.

Thank to WIKI: In software development, a breakpoint is an intentional stopping or pausing place in a program, put in place for debugging purposes.

My boat is my pause, my debugging of life. I even used the font OCR-A which is the font used for the number at the bottom of checks, and chance had it that I just started working for a company in the payment processing industry. Boat picts in signature.

While it might be some simple little term from a realm you know well, even out of that context it can make for a great boat name.

I'm not naming a beach cat but I am naming my new TI. I chose a name that meant something to me. She will be called "3rd Normal Form". This eludes to the number of kids I have, the number of hulls, and since I'm a database developer (TiberiusGV might get that reference). A good name will come to you.

Haven't gotten into doing normal forms much since college but I knew it was a database refrence right away. I like the name.
