For all of you ZEP users out there, I have 2 easy questions: 1. Have you ever used the ZEP sealer prior to the Wet Look Finish? The wet look is step 3 of their 4 step process. 1 is strip. Got that covered by bar keepers friend & wet sanding. 2 is sealing. Necessary or not? While I was buying the wet look product I saw the sealer right next to it so I bought a gallon, now debating whether to use it or not. It is almost as expensive as the wet look. May do one hull with sealer and one without, just to see, but I would rather just do both the right way, whatever that is, if anyone knows.
2. Step 4 of their process is maintain, which sounds like just washing occasionally with a mild detergent. I guess when all goes wrong, you go back to step one and strip everything off. So the question: what do you guys do to maintain? Wash and reapply every once in a while? Ever have a need to strip the Wet Look off or does it naturally disappears over time with boat use?
Thanks for any advise or direction. My home lake, Monroe reservoir in Indiana has a lot of red clay in it and tends to stain an unprotected boat very quickly.
