I want to attach a Jolly Rogers flag to my battens as described in some of the other posts on the forum, but none of them mention an optimum size. Does anybody know what size flag I should be looking for; ie. 3' X 5' or smaller?

I would guess that would be too large. It probably would do some damage. I'd shoot for something maybe 18" wide by whatever tall. I'd say that a flag that large would put more stress on your sail, batten, or the grommet than you would want.

I have a 1.5 by 3 foot flag and it flys wonderfully.

I fly 2 12 x 18's and a 3 x 5 no problems

Sorry I don't, but this is how they are rigged. I have a cord from the bottom of the main to the second batten and I attach the 3x5 with flag springs to the cord. The 2 12 x 18's are attached to each of the side shrouds.
