Hello All,
Today I managed to chip-out a portion of the starboard hull cap/rim where the "footstrap" is. Being curious, I checked the Hobie 16 assembly manual for the proper reference and found that this item was probably added by one-of-two previous owners.

Would anyone have a suggestion as to the best repair? I think the fiberglass would need to be re-structured to handle the expected stress.

Thanks in advance,
Eric

Re glass it, sand to shape, re jell coat. drill hole for foot strap. call it good. i would take out the foot straps because it will never be as strong. the repair is a weak point.

No leak? No worry. Glass it back or just glue it in. Not in use? Make a masking tape "dam" and fill the void and old hole with gel coat. finish and go sailing
