Want to anchor a Hobie 16 permanently for the summer in a sometimes windy lake. Is a cinder block, chain, rope and buoy adequate? (The Hobie sails will be lowered when anchored, and just raised when about to sail.) I am a first time owner of a cat. Is there a better solution?

It is not advisable to anchor a small cat, like the 16. There are several reasons why including damage to hulls and rigging due to wind and boat wake chop shaking it. The boat can also sail forward, on the mast and hulls alone, and go over the anchor and capsize. Cats don't easily stay pointed into the wind at anchor.

Best to pull up on a floating platform or dock that is anchored. Always tighten the rigging and limit the mast from rotating to lessen the motion that wears and damages the rigging.
