Last fall I bought an 1980 16. One thing I noticed was is had over 300 little bumps all over the sides of the hull. Knowing I needed to do some work I felt OK. Now, I';ve had the boat stored inside for the past 5 months with the drain plugs removed. This past weekend as I was sanding down the finish, some of the bumps turned into holes in the glass and some disapeared by sanding the gel coat. As I worked my way down the hull and then looked back at my work, I could see water seaping from the nice finish, where the bumps had been.
My question is, do I now need to sand off all of my gelcoat from the hulls and seal the fiberglass? I know if I just finish and paint that I will get the bumps back and may have leaks.
Any help would be gladly taken.

Do a Google search for "repairing fiberglass blisters"

Here's a good article that came up:

You've got a lot of work to do . . .
