I had a nice little soft cooler that would clip on the tramp lacing on my last Hobie 16, ten years ago. Now I can't seem to find one anywhere. Is anyone sitting on an extra or know where they can be found? I'm going on vacation in a couple weeks and really need something to keep the beer cool.
Thanks, Jay

Go to walmart and their camping section, they are not made for Hobies but they work wonders and will keep stuff cool all day.

That's a great idea! Why didn't I think of it? It's difficult finding one that lays flat and opens on top like the Hobie one.

I have yet to find a good location for the cooler on a 16. If it's on the dolphin striker it gets smashed by waves and it is in a horrible location to get at. If it's on the tramp the jib sheets get caught in it.

I think the only good solution is port holes, but so far haven't gotten up the energy or the money to do that...

Let me know if you have a good solution!:)

I don't know how you think you can't find a good spot for a cooler. Those tramps on the 16 are huge!! I had my first ride on a Hobie 16 today and let me tell you it felt spacious compared to my Nacra. I didn't know what to do with all the room.

I found a cooler at Wally World that will work after I sew on some clips to keep it on the tramp. It's a little tall, but will hold enough drinks for a full afternoon of sailing. I used to keep my old one clipped on right behind the mast on the tramp and didn't have any problems as I remember. The one I just bought has a neat feature, no zipper! It has a hard liner and lid with a velcro flap. Good for one handed beer grabbing!

Kind of off topic, but it is possible to "Heave to" a hobie 16 to have a fast lunch?
