OK I read to maximize your sails you can sand down your battons but I can't remember if its 45% of the way in from the leech or the luff. Can anyone help me out here?

Triggs,
The revised edition of "Catamaran Sailing From Start To Finish" states that, "cats sail the fastest with the pocket of their sails between 30 and 40 percent aft of the sail's leading edge" The figure to which this statement refers to also shows a draft of 8 percent at 30 percent from the forward edge.

I hope I interpreted your question correctly.
