I am considering a 16 to race. What years are the best (other than new).

In and around 1984 the boat weight was reduced to 320 lbs from 340... Look for a "Red Glue Seam"... under the lip (rail) there was a red die added to the glue material for many years after that. After 1994-5 we went to the integrated travelers (molded into the cross bars) for main and jib. Those should be stiffer. Later boats have a traveler pulley built into the corner castings. Those boats are stiffer in trhe connection to the pylons.
