Post subject:  Glue for numbers on sail

Some of the numbers on my sail are coming unattached as is the Hobie "H". Any ideas as to what sort of adhesive to use to re-attach them? Also, some of the old adhesive is on the sails where the numbers were attached. Do I have to remove it first? And if so, with what? I don't want to wreck the sails with the wrong solvent or cleaner. I have an '84 Hobie 16. Small problem, I know. But any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Contact cement should do the trick. You would have to clean off any loose bits on the sail, but no need to clean it off completely.

I used 3M Super 77 spray glue and it worked great. I peeled off the number and laid it face-down on a paper towel. Sprayed it with Super77 and waited 45 seconds, then sprayed again and re-applied the number to the sail. Good luck!
