maybe this is crazy but... it seems like youve put a lot of time and effort (and probably money too!) into this crazy thing. Why dont you just buy one from hobie. One that you know works. Theyre only liek 50 dollars

That's right Tom,
I calc'd the size of the bag to hold the amount of weight (water) I thought I would need to right the boat. (This amount was 300 lbs.) I proved the concept in a different thread in this forum. All I need do is connect the bag to the righting line, hoist the bag up, put it over my shoulder, and push out from the hull. My design prevents the bag's lip from collapsing and spilling any water when I hoist it out of the water.

I had a blast testing it too :)

Cheers,

is equal to:
2.15 Cubic ft (ft)^3
16.06 Gallons

Water is 8.345404lbs per Gallon

so... total bag weight when full should be 134.027lbs.

Unless you are in the ocean, the density of seawater is 1.03 SG or 8.584 pounds per gallon which would be 137.86 pounds for 16.06 gallons.

At a 135lbs a righting bag isn't enough to help me. I'm pretty screwed I think on my Hobie 16. Unless anyone has any suggestions. I sail alone a lot because everyone here is weenies and pontoon /power people. My problem is I am taking a trip diagonally across Lake Michigan alone at about 200 miles on one leg of the trip.
