The Lynx went out for its 4th and 5th voyage this past weekend. The trout were scared, and rightfully so!

Now that I figured out (operator error!) the seating position, I'm really loving the boat. It's my first Kayak, and HOPEFULLY my last (we'll see...).

The issue that I'm facing now, however, is that I'm being super, super careful with the boat, but it still looks like I'm kicking the cr*p out of it. Lots of little dings, scratches, etc. and even some of the color of the strap I'm using to strap it to my car has transferred to the hull. Also, at the rate we're going, the decals will be history within the year. I am proud to have a Hobie...and want people to know it!

That said, any recommendations on waxing the kayak? Should it be done? If so, any recommendations on brands / types of wax?

Wax would work on the Lynx. Anything you would use on a car would work.

I have 2 Papaya Orange Lynx’s. First use last week on vacation. Both are fading and showing visible spots of discoloration. Is this normal?

There is a sun protectant for boats called "303". It is kind of an armor all product for fiberglass boats. It is expensive at $15 for a spray bottle. I haven't noticed any fading of my blue lynx in the ten times I have had it out since August. Plastic kayaks will fade if left in the sun. Mine rides in a truck bed and that exposes it to sunny days as would sitting on a car top.

I am going to try Harken McLube HullKote https://www.amazon.com/HARKEN-Premium-Sailing-Sailboat-Equipment/dp/B005MZ8DSO/ref=sr_1_4?crid=K639QGYIYG6X&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.ipfHvm0Jsgwn00LCF1Qg2R30N4Ow5ea5aFOrWr4ZzUFcMFGnuz0r3MK5k6bnG032jYd7vMv0_QVVn6Iv5OCdG3btLMhf1Mex3ehanUvq2Z3zgP_0H1slVPE2Mt5vibu5L5I_CS9QjI9m59_6d00ORnzupvQSDxDwsMwgNhvwbWE.g8WBYzswJV8fuzXmhtfzN-n8BV4ZysTDEJ1qPmjFZ7M&dib_tag=se&keywords=mclube&qid=1711057243&s=sporting-goods&sprefix=mclube%2Csporting%2C165&sr=1-4

It's a bit expensive but I've got a bottle I had used with my Weta Trimaran.
