One of my centerboards came apart this last weekend, and it is not repairable. $330.00 seems like lot of cash for a new replacement. Any ideas for a lower cost replacement? Is there a used centerboard out there? Does anyone sail an H17 with no centerboards?

Please Help . . . .

I would look on ebay to see if you can find one. (If you do... please let me know. I need a centerboard spring!)

I sailed my boat all of last season with only one centerboard. It seemed to sail just fine, though I'm sure it would have slipped much less with both.

Do you think you might be able to rebuild yours? Can you post pics?

Good luck!

I sailed my 17 sport for years with out using the centerboards often they would get jammed up with sand and small beach pebbles.I found little if no difference. I suppose if you race the boards become important for tacking.

Wow, centerboards are up to $330.00. They were $250.00 a few years back when I bought a second set after reading they were closing out the H17. As it turned out I was able to rebuild my original boards (the hook had broken on one board and the other board partially delaminated). On the broken hook board I used a 6" 3/4 threaded fiberglass rod as the backbone for glassing in a new hook and has worked great for a couple of seasons. On the delamination I injected some resin, then taped and clamped. :)
