it's getting cold out here. Im planning to put my fx one for a winter storage. I will leave it outside, but I'm planning to take the tramp away and put some individual covers for the hulls. Now I'm wondering if i should leave the mast on too. I take the boom and spinnaker pole + rudders away, but rest I could leave if the boat will be ok... That's the question, will it? During the coldest times it might get under -30 deg. of celsius (-22F) and there is the wind and snow factor too. Please help me out here... |

I wouldn't leave it up. Wind pushing things around all winter can't be all that good for things. |

Leaving the mast up over the winter just adds wear and tear to the standing rigging. When I bought my boat in 2002 it was 2 years old and looked like it had the mast up 24/7 the whole time. I had to replace both shrouds, forestay, tang and connecting shackle due to excessive wear.
