I used a Roto-Zip to cut the holes for the last set of ports I did. It worked very well.

I have the same problem on my port wing pockets. I used a Teflon tape I think it is called "magic tape"$6-$7. (Sticks only to it self) that I purchased in the pluming section @ the "big blue box store". This stuffed worked great! I marked a line were the post was fully in place and lifted it slightly putting a few wraps around each post. I sailed all week and removed my wings each night. Have yet to rewrap the post. Leaking was minimized to almost nothing.
