Hi all, I now own a 1987 H17 that came with a nice Harken roller furler set-up and a Smyth sail (approx 114" foot, 173" leech, 196" luff). It also came with the spreader bar, halyard, sheet, blocks, & misc stuff.
The guy I got it from said he never used the "jib kit"
, I don't think he ever took the kit out of the bag that he got with the H17 when he bought it from the last guy.
There were a couple of hand drawn sketches seemingly showing swivel cam cleats and blocks rigged on the rear crossbar, and what looks like a barrel cleat mounted somewhere else. I've been poking around the forum and found a link to reacher or screacher stuff with jib tracks that seem to mount on the hulls.
Well, I just started sailing last year with my Getaway and kinda got it figured out, but I'm not totally sure what I'm getting into with the "jib kit" I have with the H17. I thought I was getting a standard factory "Sport" type jib.
Does anyone have an Idea of what I actually have? And if can be kept furled a bit while sailing up wind?
Thanks for your input. I really enjoy researching our forum.
