So I kneel on the hull just infront of the rear cross bar and I hear cracking. Sure sounds like the fiberglass has delaminated. Is this a common spot on the 17? Is it fixed the same way as the elusive soft spot on the 16 .... drill holes, inject resin?

Yes and yes.

It's where the skipper's butt lands a lot. Same problem on the 18.

I had the same issue right in front of the rear cross bar. It wasn't delamination!! The back layer of glass cracked, right along the back side of the non slip tread. Had to cut a 4" access port and add a layer of epoxy mat. All is well now. I have always tried not to sit or walk in the center of the hulls, just the edges because of this.

I don't think it is as much sitting as kneeling, unless you 'plop' down. My back corners have several small dents due to my kneeling (no delamination yet). I found I was using my knee as part of getting up on the wing. Needless to say I do not kneel on the hulls anymore. Also I make an effort not to plop onto the wings.
