Post subject:  Hobie H17 Spinnaker Help

Is there anyone outhere that has a H17 with a spinnaker and if so could i get specs on a spin and pole length how you rigged it on boat and mast etc etc.I have a standard 17 no jib. :?: Any help would be much appreciated.

It has been tried I believe. Try searching the forum for remarks from guys that have done it.

My own view - I might do it in a really light wind area, or if I had really good insurance, or if I was in a stronger wind area and had neglected my medications.

Do that one carefully and get advice...

At various times I've been tempted to add a Hooter to my H17Sport (easier to manage for the solo sailor and more versatile than a spinnaker), but am concerned about attaching it to the comp tip (even though I have a spare one). Also, I'm not too sure how much time I would get to use it. It tends to really blow where I sail and would add significant time to rigging/de-rigging the boat.
