Just bought a 17 :D , The installation of the wings seems a little sticky. Any suggestions on lube for them or other tricks :?:

The holes in the hulls for the wings curretly do not leak, and I do not want to induce any problems.

Congrats.
They are tight tolerance so they're a bit tricky. If you wiggle them down one end a couple inches at a time (then the other), it works fine. I'm assuming there is nothing in the hole like goober. Two people make it faster. Can't think of anything you can put on them to make it easier. Silicon won't help. Going sailing this season?

Be religious about keeping the wings and wing tubes clean. Rinse them with water often. Don't let water freeze in the hull tubes over the winter. That's what causes the majority of leaks, as does not seating the wings down all the way.

Silicone (any dry lubricant for that matter) does make inserting/removing a bit easier.

I am not tough enough to go sailing this season. It will be a long wait until the spring!

I looked closer inside the holes and see a couple spots that I can sand down.

I wil keep the tubes dry in the winter so I don't break the tubes.
It is easy to tell when the seats bottom, I get a definate thud when they bottom.

Thanks guys.
