Any idea what the weight of just one hull is on the H-17, no wing, just the hull with 2 little rudder gudgeons and the port hatch screwed on? Then how much weight do the usual crossbar and wing-hole strengthening upgrades add?

PS: Also, as far as sail #'s, aren't they well over 8,000 on the H-17?

Starting to think I could right an H-18, with a mast bob and a righting pole gizmo.

(Note to self: stop making fun of mast bobs, just because they look like little zeppelins up there, and give a toy-like appearance to the cat... just paint an angry shark mouth on it... lol.)

Baby Bob is nice, but he righting pole like the one Rick White makes won't work on a Hobie 17. I have tried and the tramp is to low. You will have to go with either shroud extenders or a righting bag system. Some people just carry a trash bag.

The 17 hulls weigh about 80 - 90 lbs each.

As far as I know, there were no crossbar / wing tube reinforcing kits made for the 17 (unlike the 18 ). Hobie Cat got it right the first time on the 17. The 17's crossbars attach in a fundamentally different way than any other Hobie - with only 4 bolts.

The highest sail number at the 17 North Americans last year was 6527.
