Is it just me or is it impossible to find a used FX one for sale! I've been looking for some time. I'm in the southwest so if anyone knows of someone thinking of selling please drop me a note.

I believe he already has.

Last year there was three of them for sale. If you can find one they are a really great sailing boat. There isn't anything available for class rating either.The biggest downside to it is the barnpole for a mast. Which is probably a good thing if this is going to be your first spinnaker boat.


A similar option would be an Formula 16, I'm pretty sure there is still boats available from this years Alter Cup. If you're interested in basically a brand new boat let me know. sogncab (at) yahoo (dot) com

I moved to South Korea last November. I can not believe I have been boatless for 6 months (Withdrawls setting in, especially with Spring being here.) If my contract get's renewed for another year, I may try and look in to buying an FX-ONE to sail in Busan.

Just curious, but is anyone in the eastern US at least INTERESTED in buying an FX?

It's a great boat. It's like a heavy-duty rocket. More rugged than an F16 and only somewhat less than an A-cat in speed despite the ratings, from what I see.

Yes, absolutely, although in my case it would have to be a used one. I have an H18 now and if my wife and kids don't catch the "Hobie bug" soon, I'll look to sell it and buy an FX-One. Last summer I saw a nice one with wings listed online somewhere in midwest for ~$10,000. Great looking boats! For those in the know, would the FX-One be easier to single hand than a AHPC Viper? There's a gorgeous Viper on my beach but it looks like it might be a bit of a handful (for me) to handle alone.

No real difference on the water. The Viper is a bit lighter on the beach, a lot lighter if the FXone has wings. I loved the FXone, just no class to race with. Great Portsmouth number for handicap racing.

Thanks Karl. By "handle" I was referring more to being able to work the jib, spin, main, etc. single handed. At least there's a furling jib option on the FX-One for weekend warriors like me. I wouldn't even know where to begin with a spin. :)

I never sailed the FXone with the jib. I've sailed the Viper briefly with the jib singlehanded, and I didn't care for it. Not so much dealing with the jib, but the boat powers up so quickly that it was just tricky. I don't think the FXone would be a whole lot differently.

You were probably looking at mine that was for sale last year. It was the only one in the midwest for sale that I knew of.
