Post subject:  Sealing the top of the comp tip

I flipped my H17 sport last weekend in gusty conditions and immediately turtled. It took longer to right than expected and much to my suprise I heard water sloshing in the comp tip when I broke the boat down for trailering. I noticed the 6 rivets holding the halyard hook did not have rivet casings (hobie uses foam to plug the comptip just below the hook area so does not case their rivets since the foam is the seal). I removed the 6 rivets and carefully tapped off the end piece containing the halyard pully and discovered the foam was leaking. I punched a small hole in the lower part of the foam to ensure all the water was out then siliconed the heck out of it. As an added measure I siliconed the plug back inplace and used rivet casings when reattaching the halyard hook. Hopefully that will do the trick.
