 Post subject: Wing tube repair

Having trouble getting the wooden plugs drilled out enough to insert reinforcing tubing inside. Any ideas?

I can't find a spade bit long enough....seems like 16" is the longest and I need longer! Where did you get your's?

One option might be to get a spade bit, then weld an extension to it. Careful to keep it straight.

It was a PITA for me. Best success was with a 3 ft bit like you use for snaking wires in walls (elec. dept @HD), then screw in a long lag bolt with washer and line attached. It takes a real long extension on a socket wrench. Use a lever to pull it out. Two came out pretty easily, other two were basically shredded in the process.
