My 17 Sport wings breathed their last recently. They were holding together until I tried to take them off. I was thinking of getting them repaired but they basically fell apart. They are teal, or aqua, colored. My tramp, which is in good shape, is a matching teal/aqua color. I understand I cannot get this color any more from Hobie. I have a canvas shop that can make me new wings of a suitable material for much less than I can buy new wings from Hobie. If I were going to just continue to use the boat myself it would be a no brainer to get new ones made because I don't race. However, I am thinking this boat may not be the one I want to stick with and I may want to sell it and get a Getaway or 18. Question - I have heard that adding after market fabric would disqualify this boat from racing in "sanctioned" competitions. Will I kill my resale value by going with the after market wing material? Or, do you think there are enough people in the market out there like me that are interested in a good looking boat but aren't interested in racing in whatever races care that the boats have all Hobie original parts?
