Well, looks like I will soon have another Hobie to add to my Fleet. I expect I will have my H17 in May.

One thing the current owner said that I haven't heard before that I want to pass by you other 17 sailors. Do you have difficulties raising the main when it gets to the comp tip section of the mast? I wonder if this is a common problem or if the Luff on the main is just worn.

All models have this "issue", but its more a matter of the sail being 3/4 of the way up... not that it is related to the CompTip. Its due to the luff curve and sometimes battens in a Cat sail.

Read the sail hoist FAQ for best results hoisting sails. Even at a National and Worlds level event I see people struggling for no reason. Its easy when done correctly.

Pay close attention to feeding the sail rather than trying to pull it up into the feeder with the halyard.
