I know there have been several threads dealing with the use of a spinnaker on the not-so-modern H17, but I'm just curious: Has anyone done it? I'm not talking about hooters, or reachers, but all out spinnakers? I know I read something on here once about how it would be too much load on the comptip, etc... but if nobody has done it yet, I don't see how that is clear. I can fabricate the spin pole / bag and set up everything etc., and I would probably try and get an old used Nacra F17 spinnaker (tons of F17s around here) or a spin from another smaller beach cat or H16, etc. Just wondering if it's do-able. I've been going out on a Marstrom tornado a lot lately, equipped with spin... holy (censored)! you haven't lived until you've gone out in above 15 on a tornado with the kite up. |

I've done it and the comptip held just fine. I put a Nacra F18 snuffered spin on a 1985ish H17. |

I used the stock Sport foil and furler with a 78 sq ft reacher and blocks 18" off rear crossbar. Worked REAL good. Doug |
