I've just published an article with Hobie 17 maintenance/repair tips that was submitted by a long time 17 sailor from Australia. Since I don't sail a Hobie 17, please check it out and let me know if you agree with the tips, or have more of your own.

Nice to see the 17 make a come-back, even if the 18 is gone forever.

I do not agree with some of Mr. Sanders "faults".

Most of the issues had been resolved years ago. The guy must have a really old Hobie 17.

Matt,

I'd love to have an article about the current state of the Hobie 17, especially because of it's recent resurrection.

Hello " Mr Fields "
Lets get the record straight , Have you ;
( 1 ) Raced against me perhaps 50 to 100 times ?
( 2 ) Repaired my 17 with massive forward damage ?
( 3 ) Beaten me in all but one of the above races ?
( 4 ) Acknowlege that the one race I beat you , you capsized twice !
( 5 ) Agree that on the other ( up to 99 times ) that I have on arrival at the beach afterwards , immediately found you and shook your hand and congratulated you on your race win ( or the other winner ) !
( 6 ) Encountered most of my reported " faults " in your association with the Hobie 17 ?

So lets cut the crap and in your reply to this say " Hi Barry "

I have entered the upcomming World Title and live in hope that by my past record I have a one percent chance of taking that title off you .

We both have a wonderful association with the Hobie 17 and although you are able to to use the boat in a far more efficient manner than myself , I would have at least equal time at the tiller and equal respect for the boat .

Check out my site at trimaran sailor and you will find that I have made more use of the boat than both yourself or the Hobie Cat Company .

Trust that I will see you at the Port Melbourne Yacht Club early January 05 and will congratulate you on every race you win and hope that this gesture is reciprical .

Your fellow 17 enthusiast ,
Barry
