Sure, you could in stall a porthole. Where is the soft spot located? I would wonder if it was close to the tramp post, if installing a porthole would affect the hull's strctural integrity. I defer to the two great Matt's!!! Either Matt Miller or Matt Bounds should know! Have a Hobie day! |

awesom thx so much guys but mmiller. on the delamination page it says drill holles in the top but i cant go throught the hole deck so wouldnt that be hard because i would think that the top of the hull is only like no even a centimeter thick? so how would be the best way to do that? |

Drill stop: http://www.drillspot.com/products/309015/General_Tools_S838_6PC_Drill_Stop_Set If you're careful, just wrap duct tape around the drill bit where you want it to stop ~ 3/16" |

Using VERY LITTLE pressure on the drill, you pierce the outer skin. Then, just the weight of the drill will push through the foam. You just have to be careful not to pierce the inner skin. I wrap masking tape around the pit as a stop / depth indicator. |
