My name is Dave, and I sail...

I have been checking out this forum for a couple of weeks, and finally decided to sign up. I currently have 2 aqua cats, one of them is fitted with a main and Jib from a small mono-hull (I think). I am going to be driving to the other side of Michigan and picking up a Hobie 14 turbo next week some time. It's got yellow hulls and a yellow tramp. The guy says it's in good condition, except the sail needs a new guide sewn into it. Any suggestions? He is supposed to be sending me pictures.

I'm getting the boat with a trailer for $250 and a six pack, so it seems like a good deal. :)

Hi Dave,

Which side of Michigan are you from? If you're a left-coaster, you should check out http://www.fleet276.com, the Detroit Hobie Fleet's site.

We're having a fun sail next weekend on Lake St. Clair. I've got a couple of 14's & can bring one for you to try before you buy. There will be some 16's and a few Tigers, too.

$250 and a six-pack is pretty cheap - be careful you don't "get what you pay for."

Thanks for the invite Matt. I'm over in Grand Rapids, and the boat is near Gross Pointe. I may take you up on that.

He told me he bought it for $700 a few years ago, and only sailed it twice. I will inspect it thoroughly before I buy it for sure.
