Well after a few bad weather weekends and a few repairs I managed to get out in 15 knots NNE again today (lots of hull flying
)
Coming back to the beach on a run, I centered the traveler and sheeted in and it depowered me a lot. I also added a small single block with a becket to the downhaul which has given me a kind of power downhaul.
Yeah so came in slow with the traveler held at center but not cleated and then turned into the wind, letting the traveler and sheet go, to do what they wanted during the turn, and then backed in. Worked like a charm.
Now I need to sail the lagoon on a big Southerly and see how to do it on a beam reach.
