with the correct technique not very much. I guess 60kg's would do it. If the boat is turtled start off by lifting the front corner of the boat (by hanging off the opposite back corner). One the boat is half up position the sail in such a way that the wind catches under the sail help lift. Make sure you hang onto the underside of the boat as it comes over (if not it could flip over again). Also make sure your mast is not taking any water - if it is righting the boat will be impossible

The other thing that I found to be very helpful is the float on the end of the mast. It keeps the mast end out of the water, and allows the wind to get under the sail as you get the boat turned to right it. I weigh 190 lbs so it was relatively easy for me to right it by myself, but Hobie recommends 160 lbs.

Okay thanks. My friends wife wants to buy and solo sail one of these. She is right at 155-160 and is insisting on a mast bob anyway.

Some times in big swells it is helpfull to have the extra weight to make the righting quicker. Also, once righted, the bag acts as a sea ancor and helps keep the boat headed into the wind/waves. Or if the wind dies all of a sudden then the extra weight is nice in lieu of the of wind helping.
