1968 - present (although for the last ~ 15 years, not in the US)

There were not many produced in the US from 1987 - 1995. Boats built in 1984 and after are significantly lighter than the ones built before.

The weight was less due to improved manufacturing technique.

Boats of that vintage weigh at least 20 lbs less than those that came before.

Interesting info, Matt. That makes it likely that the 14s at my club are pre-1984. They feel almost as heavy as our nicer 16s!
