Uh oh...punctured hull

While unloading my late 1970's H14 onto the lawn yesterday (I had to do some work on the trailer) I managed to puncture two dime-sized divets/indents into the inboard side of the port hull, about 2/3 of the way to the bow and about 2/3 of the way to the top of the hull (i.e. the damage is not right on the bottom of the hull). Both divets broke the 'skin' of the hull and I can see a bit of styrofoam through each slit. The divets are dime-sized, with about half of the circumference of the divets 'broken through' the hull's skin (i.e. like a 'slit'). So they're not huge holes...the rod that punctured them didn't go all the way through. How do I fix these? kind of a bummer...the boat is in fantastic shape for its age, and now I go and do this to it.

That's quick and dirty, but can lead to problems with fairing and coating (paint / gel) adhesion later.

Evercoat Formula 27:


Polyester based (same stuff as the rest of the boat), easy to work and is a light neutral gray - easy to overcoat.

Best part is you can vary the cure time with the hardener - from a few minutes to over an hour. Marine-Tex takes a couple of hours to cure.

Pick out the loose bits from your punctures before you slather the filler on.
