Post subject:  a collectable?

I have a hobie 14 that my uncle gave me about 7 years or so ago. he told me that it was from the first year hobie was in business and i remember seeing the serial number '0067' on the boat somewhere. according to the history section here that would make the boat from 1969. when he gave it to me i rebuilt / cleaned / replaced just about everything other than the hulls, frame, mast, and boom.

replaced the tramp, the stays, lines, rebuilt the rudders, etc.

the sail is not original, and i didn't replace it because it was basically brand new.

I'm thinking of selling it because with two little kids, a wife, and house i just dont have the time to use it much.

my question: is it worth anymore that its such an old boat with a low serial number? the boat is still in great shape and is perfectly usable.

thanks
Phil

Not really. Unless it was one of the very first (and nobody knows what serial number they started with), it's just another old Hobie 14.

That's more an indication of its value rather than the serial number.
