 Post subject: Hobie 14 Forstay ajuster

Is the hobie 14 supposed to have a stroud adjuster on it, because i recently broke my forstay go a new one and it is to loose to use a adjuster for it.

Adjuster? In the forestay? The standard H14 uses an adjuster at the bridle connection point. Sounds like the forestay is too long or maybe you want the mast too far forward? The mast of the 14 should be raked aft to where the main blocks touch when fully sheeted.

I know the problem he is taking about. Did you order your stay from Murrays? I had to install the new mast base and step castings in order for me to use the new forestay from Murrays (my old rigging was fine, but its not sailing to me unless its blowing over 15, and 35 is when it gets fun, so I figured new rigging was probably good idea). You could try it without the adjuster, but I think someone is making the forestays a little too long (like 2 inches).
