Could use more wet sanding but the real job was to get a better coat of gel on this bad boy

G'day Love the job you did. I am thinking about the same job. Just wondering the degree of difficulty out of 10. Was it hard or more tedious? Also had you had any spray paint experience prior to the job? As opposed to you I am getting her ready to sail in winter , it's very mild down in Australia (a light wetsuit is all you need) and the sailing is great in winter. Ned |

It was trial by fire my friend READ A LOT.... All in all it was like a 6.5 the real pain in the butt was not having a real big air tank to run the wet sander. It's like driving.People can give you all the help in the world but hands on is the best or to have that person on the spot to show you. Here is what I have to say when shooting LOTS OF COATS most will get sanded off. People call it wax or something else it's a little bottle that is what makes it sand-able. Add that on the last coat unless you feel like sanding then spray then sand then spray. let sit like over night then wet sand the crap out of it. If you look at mine from 5 feet away it looks good but right next to it needs more sanding. Where I will be sailing no one will see it so I don't care. My reason for redoing it was to stop the glass from getting any more sun damage and to get it back to looking more like it did back in the day. As for the spray back round? Not much just commonsense the gel runs thick so you need to thin it." if you get a dollar store gun". I would drop the $99.99 and get a dump gun to re-gel a boat. If it's little work like a bottom job then no. Hell you can do that by hand, When you thin the gel you need more coats. you tube is your friend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78z86H6L ...
