My folks recently picked up a used '81 Hobie 14. The hulls are in nice shape and are rock solid, but they had water in them when we picked it up. I'd like to put an access port in each hull to help get it dried it out. I'm thinking either a 4" or 5" port between 12" and 16" behind the front pylons. Any issues with putting the port there.

Also looking for some components - posted in the classifieds.

That's the place to put them - be careful of the foam flotation blocks inside when cutting the deck. They're right there.
