Post subject:  Early 70's Hobie 14 Rigging

I am restoring my Hobie 14 purchased in the early 70's(as I remember ). Sail number 4156, will have to see if I can find a serial.
A Looong time ago I was told the rigging in this generation was shorter the newer vintages.
Does anyone have the measurements for these early models?
Also need a tiller and tramp. I have seen tramps on Ebay. Anyone have an opinion of these?
Thanks all

Hey Duxdad,
I'm in the same situation as you, although I purchased a new forestay already and had to have it cut down once. Probably will get is shortened again as I still don't have room for the forestay adjuster, and the mast rake is too severe - causes binding between the mast and step.
"hobiesrock" posted on Jun 18 this year that his original wires measured:
forestay - 12' 3 1/2"
bridles - 5' 1/4"
shrouds - 15' 5"

Can someone corroborate these numbers?

Salty Dog swapped me out shrouds and forestay to the older measurements.
It all worked out good in the end.
I cant find the notes I took with all the measurements...but those #'s you posted are very close to what Salty sent me I believe. I used the "new" bridle wires Which I believe were a fuzz longer than what was on my boat. They took good care of me, and I would suggest calling them up and talking it over with them!
I have since sold the boat and got a 16 so I cant be of much more help. Ill keep an eye out for my notes though!
