Picked a nice Carumba main off a parts boat today, sail is in great shape, just dusty and dirty...no rust or mildew, just very dirty.

What's the best way to give it a good cleaning without harming the material?

I have used Star brite Sail & Canvas Cleaner with a scrub brush with good results on old Hobie sails. It looked like this product brighten the sails a bit too.

Now it won't bring the sails back 100% clean but 80% or so is OK with me.

My wise friend told me,remember the evil to "good enough" is ,

"I think it could be better"

Any mild detergent will do.

Beware using a stiff scrub brush - it can remove the resin in the cloth and abrade the stitching.
