I'm clear on the way to go downhill w/o a jib is straight to the mark... more to the lee the better even.. But what about the turbo? - Let the jib flog and go dead down (wastes that sail area?) - 90 degrees to bridle tell tale and let 'er rip... ? not sure the jib's really big enough to make this preferred...? Thanks. - Rob. |

In my experience, I find gybing downwind to be faster. Also it is more fun. As the wind picks up, gybing downwind is even more beneficial. In light wind, I think dead downwind will be faster. Also, upwind I find I foot more with the turbo in medium wind. The extra speed makes up for the distance, especially in trapeze conditions. |
