well i dont actually know anything about the differences based upon production and composition, but I do know they have different stretch percentiles, as well as tensile strengths, which produce different ideal uses. i agree that compiling and reducing the varieties in line types is a good idea, but i dont htink that downsizing is an appropriate way to go. it may hold up, but on the other hand, im sure theres a reason for that main halyard to be that extra 1/16" larger for the H18.
although, on the main sheet, i think its more about what you like feeling in your hand. smaller line travels through blocks easier, and cleats with more ease, but larger line feels so sturdy, and its a heck of alot better to hold onto when soloing that 14, and having a puff hit you while youre on the trap. whatever line you get, just make sure to pay the extra ten bucks for teh higher quality. itll make the difference between one season and five seasons of use.
and hopefully someone else can actually define the halyard yacht and spun braid stuff. id like to hear it. who designs this stuff? like imagine being the engineer who designs new ropes....crazy man.
