| Post subject: | Two-part polyurethance paint for hull protection |
Hi I have to finish a repair to one of my hulls either by using a wax/gelcoat mixture of repainting the whole hull with International Perfection or a similar two pot poly paint. I have previously used this very successfully on my cruising catamarans and find it harder than the original gelcoat preventing water take up and giving better protection against knocks. I would welcome any comments on the advisability of doing this. I am aware of the concern in some quarters that a paint job is hiding defects and wonder if painting it takes it outside the class parameters Thanks |

I'm all for repainting the hulls on a 14 as there is no non-skid surface on the decks like a 16. I can't imagine it will add a lot of weight. I'm a fan of Awlgrip or Awlcraft personally which will both finish to a beautiful shine and be long lasting. If you do one, you'll want to do both though. That's my humble opinion...
