Obviously my mast base is quite worn - should I also replace the step?? THANKS |

I would replace both. New castings are matched shapes. We updated them in 2004. More beef at the stops. Better contact surface angles for more mast rake. |

Step for the H14 depends on age of the boat. Newer ones may have a Dolphin Striker? The step would be drilled for the post. 20200011 H16 / H14 Turbo Step Casting (drilled and tapped / threaded) 10170011 H14 no striker Step Casting 10640011 H14 Mast Base |

If I wanted the option to make it into a Turbo (in the future) - I should go with the 16 with the hole for the Dolphin then? thank you |

There is a casting post and cable-type conversion kit for that. Upgrading to the Post and striker rod would be problematic... I'd go the original step and then add the conversion kit which rivets a casting type post below the step. Then a cable runs from side to side. |
