converting my '82 hobie 14 to a turbo. was looking at the hobie catalog and was confused about what i needed to buy. I already have a jib sail, what else is needed to complete the job? is there a kit that has everything included (expect sail)?

If you have just the sail, you'll need:

Upper forestay/swivel
Bridles w/ roller furler
Sheets, including blocks and suspension wire
Dolphin striker
Trapeze

It does depend on what kind of sail you have. The stock Hobie jib has a wire luff and replaces the forestay. It sheets to blocks on the trampoline held in place by a wire that runs under the tramp from shroud chainplate to chainplate.

There are non-OEM jibs that have a zipper luff (like the 18's jib), some that are fully-battened and sheet to the front crossbar (like the 16).

There is an upgrade kit in the accessory catalog.

Since you have an 82, you should already have a dolphin striker.

The upper swivel mentioned above comes as part of the pigtail. The upgrade kit referenced here does not mention it so I don't know if it's included.

The turbo makes the 14 come alive, I would never go back. The jib adds a little lift making it less pitchy. Tacking is a dream and the boat is fast.
