Yesterday the council of the German Hobie Association was held in Wolfsburg/germany.

Many 14 sailors visited the event to discuss about the new sail for the hobie 14 and about the new mast-step.

The decission was that the German Class Association should speak for the rule changes in the international Hobie Council.

The German 14 sailors hope that the new sail is class legal till April the 1st 2008.

Ask me ([email protected]) if you want to have pics of the new sail and the new mast-step.

It's a long, long way before this could be class legal.

Here are the steps:
- Regional Association (EHCA) makes proposal to IHCA Rules Committee
- IHCA RC publishes proposal for member comment
- Based on membership response, IHCA RC makes recommendation to IHCA Executive
- IHCA Executive votes to accept or reject recommendation
- If accepted, IHCA submits change to ISAF for approval
- ISAF can accept or reject change

I haven't seen photos of the mast step or sail yet, but I can tell you that this will not be well received by the racers in the US - especially those of us who have bought sails in the last couple of years.

I guess for us racers we will just have to bite the bullet so to say! I haven't seen a pic either. I already have a larger sq top sail for the boat and can tell you it is fun!! :D When it ever comes to a class vote, my vote in YES.

Bob

I am sorry. I wrote to fast for my english-experience.
The Germans hope that it will be class legal from the 1st April 2008.

I know the steps we have to go !!!

I think that the first steps is done. Germany wants the new sail. The sailos in Denmark and the Netherlands told us that they would like to sail the new sail in regattas too.
Because there are no other 14-fleets in Europe, the EuropeanHCA must support the new sail.

OK, I see. Hopefully the new sail will be cleared for use in regattas, it looks brilliant. It might help revive the 14 Fleet here in the UK.

@H14Turbo
I would love to help you to build up the 14 class up in the UK.
We should work closer together in Europe.
It would be great to see you in Scheveningen.

I will almost certainly be turning up. There are a fair few 14s around the UK, but their is no class as such. Its revival would be brilliant.
